Live online workshop for L&D professionals

Transfer Fast Track

Less than a fifth of training gets used at work. In three hours, learn the 12 levers that change that.

The Transfer Fast Track is a three-hour live workshop built by the Institute for Transfer Effectiveness on the evidence from more than a century of transfer research. You play the 12 Lever card game on one of your own programmes, advise a live consulting case, and leave with tools you can use in your next design meeting.

What people say about the Fast Track

Feedback from Transfer Fast Track sessions run by the Institute for Transfer Effectiveness and its licensed Transfer Enablers.

Very good, lots of input, and more importantly, lots of inspiration for this hugely important topic. The whole process from A to Z was very professional as well as personal.
Rolf Portmann, Roche
Sustainable investment in the meaningfulness of L&D, and a great way to quickly and effectively justify long-term cost management of input and outcome to the client.
Gitta Stockmann, AOK Baden-Württemberg
In this fast track session, you get a great overview of many years of transfer research in just 3 hours, with measures that can be put into practice immediately. And above all, it was fun.

Sound familiar?

  • How do I make my next programme land better without redesigning it from scratch?
  • What does transfer actually depend on?
  • Which levers do I have, and which ones is my design already pulling?
  • How do I get a sponsor interested in transfer before the programme starts, not after?
  • What can I use on Monday, rather than next quarter?
  • What do I say to leadership when they ask what the training changed?

What you leave with

You know what transfer depends on and how to manage it

The 12 levers, grouped into trainee, design and organisation, and a fast way to see which ones your programme is missing.

More than fifty tool ideas you can use straight away

One-pagers for each lever with practical tools, plus 48 hours in the Online Transfer Toolbox to explore the ones that fit.

A method for winning over internal clients

The card game doubles as a ten-minute transfer analysis you can run with a line manager or sponsor before a programme starts.

A first step already written down

The session ends with a transfer plan on a postcard: one small change to your next programme, chosen by you.

Who it is for

  • L&D and talent development professionals who design or commission training
  • HR business partners who sign off programmes and want them to land
  • Internal trainers and facilitators who are tired of great sessions with no follow-through
  • Anyone who has to explain to leadership why a programme did or did not work

How the three hours run

  1. First hour

The transfer problem and the 12 levers

Why so little training shows up at work, and the twelve conditions that decide whether it does. No memorising required.

  2. Second hour

The card game, on your programme

Play the 12 Lever card game on a programme you own. Find the levers your design already pulls and the ones it does not.

  3. Third hour

Become the expert, advise the case

Pick one lever, dig into its tools in the Toolbox, then advise a live consulting case as the expert on that lever.

  4. Last ten minutes

    Your postcard

Write down one small change to your next programme. Hold it up. That is the plan.

An orange box arrives before the session

Every participant receives a Transfer Fast Track Box by post, about three weeks before the date. We open it together on the day.

  • The book What Makes Training Really Work
  • The 12 Lever card set

Questions people ask

Is it really online?

Yes. Live on Zoom, cameras on, small group. The box makes it hands-on: you use the physical cards and postcard during the session.

How many people?

The session is capped so that everyone advises the live case. When the cap is reached the register button becomes a waitlist.

What if I cannot make the date?

Places are transferable to a colleague up to seven days before the session. The session is recorded, so if something comes up on the day you still get the recording. If the date does not work at all, leave your name below and you will hear about the next one first.

Is the session recorded?

Yes. The recording is shared with everyone who registered, along with the slides and the digital card set. It is for participants only, not published.

Do I need to prepare?

No. Optional ten-minute reflection is sent two weeks before. Have a programme in mind that you want to make more effective.

Can I get an invoice for my company?

Yes. Add your company details and VAT number at the payment step and the invoice is issued to the company.
